Daniella Russo is a business executive
whose experience includes executive management of
high-tech startups from an initial investment phase through a
successful IPO; general management within Fortune-100 companies;
successful brand repositioning and brand management; and building
vibrant online communities and membership programs.
In 2002 Ms. Russo founded PlanetStop, a network of services for
people on the go. The network quickly grew into a well known
resource for Internet services, geo-location services and
tourist information in many popular tourist destinations, under
proprietary brand names.
In 1999 Ms. Russo founded Mindzone, Inc., on
the principle of the high-tech keiretsu as key for success in a
crowded marketplace. Mindzone has helped many companies develop
their brand, launch products and grow their businesses.
Mindzone's areas of expertise include global marketing, brand
development and management, as well as building and growing
online communities.
Mindzone's client list includes PlanetStop, Phone.com, WAP Forum, Microsoft,
WebTV, Sun Microsystems, AllBizDepot.com, Callidus Software, NetManage,
Telera, YellowPages, Silicon Valley Visual
Arts, Silicon Valley Open Studios, Sport of Motherhood, Artworks Magazine and many others.
Prior to Mindzone, Ms. Russo was a Senior Director, Marketing
at Sun. She directed the company to solve a major
challenge for the Internet growth and led the introduction of a portfolio of low-cost,
high performance servers ready to handle the growth spurt of the
Internet.
Ms. Russo helped formulate Sun’s strategy for
service providers and led Sun’s
launch into Telecommunications. This became one of the major
strategic thrusts for Sun.
Prior to Sun, Ms. Russo was a member of the executive team that
launched Infoseek, one of the pioneers of the Internet.
Ms. Russo led the marketing organization into an award-winning
product design and a dramatic growth of its online community and was instrumental in Infoseek’s IPO.
Prior to Infoseek, Ms. Russo started a business based
on a linguistic technology developed at Xerox-PARC. Ms. Russo
led the product definition, secured large scare licensing
arrangements with Oracle Corp. and launched the lexical
technology business for X/Soft.
Prior to that, Ms. Russo has held a variety of executive positions
with Frame Technology, Sun Microsystems and Rank Xerox Ltd. EEO
Ms. Russo studied marketing at the London School of Economics
and Marketing of office automation
systems at the Xerox Business School. Ms. Russo also holds a Masters
degree in English Philology, University of Sofia, Bulgaria.
Ms. Russo has a passion for the arts and sponsors many emerging
artists. She is the founder of MZGalleries, a division of Mindzone,
dedicated to promoting personal enrichment and learning through
visual art. Ms. Russo is a past President of the
Board of Silicon
Valley Visual Arts, a membership organization dedicated to
connecting artists and art lovers within the Bay Area. She
is a Board Advisor to SVVA. She is also a past
Executive Director or Silicon
Valley Open Studios, an annual event that
draws thousands of artists and art lovers from South San Francisco
to Monterey.
Ms. Russo currently serves as an Advisor to
SVVA and Silicon Valley Open Studios.
