At the time Mindzone was engaged, the
Customer has been struggling to address a new business opportunity
within its current organizational structure. The efforts
have not been successful, because neither Marketing, nor
Engineering had the bandwidth and model how to address new
business opportunities and identify their viability.
Further, there had been an ongoing debate between Engineering
and Marketing, regarding the value of certain features planned
to be included in the upcoming product release. Engineering
was leading with a general sense of “these features
are cool”, while Marketing had no basis to argue against
that.
Mindzone quickly assessed the situation and launched two
parallel projects. The first project focused on analysis
of existing research data and applying the findings to the
stated objectives regarding target customers, retention
and growth of installed base. These findings were presented
to senior executives of the Customer and became the basis
for decisions regarding the product feature set.
The second project focused on assessing the business opportunity.
This required the development of a business plan, including
financial analysis, market sizing, market segmentation and
target customer profile.
